Is the Grass Always Greener?
Have you ever sat down and asked yourself what YOU want? I think that today it is easy to get distracted from what you really desire to do with your life. We live in a life that is fast and always moving to the next big thing.
There is always something better than what you have. Like the saying, "The grass is always greener on the other side." I have noticed myself thinking this quite often, thinking if only I had more money, if I had more friends, if only my life was perfect...I am sure that you think these things too.
Life is never going to be perfect and you can never please people. If you try to succeed at either of these tasks, I promise you, you will fail. I think this has been the hardest thing in my life. I had a picture and a plan for how I thought my life would be right now, and let me tell you, I was very wrong from how my life currently is! But that does not mean that everything is in the garbage. That means that God simply had other plans and more lessons for me to learn.
When I catch myself thinking, "If only I was them." I stop myself and understand that everyone has a story. You never really know what is going on in someone's life or the quiet struggles that they have.
My friend told me recently, "Mackenzie, we complain, but really...it isn't that bad. It could be much worse." She was so right! Life could be so much worse. I have been so focused on being perfect and focusing on what everyone else wanted from me, I was not doing what I wanted to do.
I realized I need to ask myself, "What is best for me?" "What will make me the happiest in life?" I decided to make some goals to help me stay on track. Some of mine are below!
Goals
• To focus on expierences in life • To have less stuff, be organized • To read my Bible and focus on my relationship with Jesus • To be a good girlfriend/friend/daughter • To focus on photography and keep gaining skills for the future • To read more and watch less TV or be on my phone • To finish one book (I am currently reading about 5 at the same time) • To remember everyone has a story that is unique to them • To push myself even with life gets tough • To find new workouts in the gym/focus on toning up • To meal prep • Learn to juice and how plants are natural healers • To learn that I do not always have to have a plan • To have faith in people • To smile more • To focus on listening • To schedule 3 photography sessions in the next month
